Leaving, Cleaving, and Becoming…
Pursuing Biblical Marriage in an age of uncoupling.
The Bible begins on a grand stage. In the book of Genesis we find God busy with the work of creating the universe. It’s all there: sun, moon, stars, oceans, mountains, birds, fish, beasts of the field. Genesis 1-2, indeed, contain a grand narrative. And the whole story concludes with a marriage ceremony!
Genesis 2:24
[24] Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (ESV)
Please join us Friday, August 1st - Saturday, August 2nd as we look to the scriptures to help us answer questions such as; What is the purpose of marriage? Why did God design and ordain this institution? If marriage is so good, why is it sometimes so difficult? Is marriage an end in itself for the happiness and benefit of husband and wife? Or does the union of a man and a woman point to something deeper? Should we see marriage as one option for humanity or should marriage to be sought after as a gift from God? If marriage is so important in God’s economy, how can God’s people be faithful to the vows they make on their wedding day How can we become, and keep becoming better husbands and wives?
