And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
— Hebrews 10:24–25

Church Covenant

We the members of Apostles Church, having been led by the Holy Spirit to make a decision to receive God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and based upon this profession of faith, having been baptized in water by immersion in obedience to Jesus’ command, and having been led of God to join together with this body of believers, therefore we do now before God and in the presence of this assembly of believers, most joyfully, solemnly, and voluntarily enter into this covenant with one another.

We commit to living our lives in accordance with the statement of faith of this church which is the Baptist Faith and Message printed in the year 2000.

We commit to “loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and body and to loving others as we love ourselves.”  (Luke 10:27)

We commit ourselves to the task of continually growing in God’s grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:18)

We commit ourselves, with God’s help to living a life that is pleasing to him, and when on occasion we fail in this regard, we will promptly seek God’s forgiveness, as well as the forgiveness of anyone who we have sinned against. (1 John 1:8-9, Colossians 3:13, Romans 12:18)

We commit ourselves to not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, participating regularly in the ministry and life of this church. (Hebrews 10:25)

We commit ourselves to clarifying our God-given spiritual gifts and abilities and to faithfully and consistently exercising them to further God’s work through this church. (Romans 12:6-8)

We commit ourselves to regularly and cheerfully give a portion of our material goods in the form of our tithes and offerings, believing this to be a vital part of our Christian responsibility. (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)

We commit to walking together in brotherly love, rejoicing with those who rejoice and weeping with those who weep, as becomes the members of a Christian Church; exercising an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other and faithfully admonishing and entreating one another as occasion may require. (Romans 12:15; Galatians 6:1-2)

We commit to supporting and submitting to the spiritual leadership and guidance of our pastor(s). (Hebrews 13:17)

We commit not to gossip or spread slanderous information about others, and if we fail in this regard, we will promptly seek forgiveness from God and the offended parties. (Ephesians 4:25, 29, 31)

We commit to faithfully remember one another in consistent petitions of prayer and lovingly attend to the needs of all those committed to our care. (Ephesians 6:18)

We commit to bring up those who at any time are under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example to seek the salvation of our family and friends. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Proverbs 22:6)

As God is our witness, we commit ourselves, admitting our reliance on the Holy Spirit’s help, in fulfilling this covenant.

Moreover, we agree that if and when we relocate away from the near proximity of this church, we will make every effort to promptly unite with some other church of like faith where we promise to carry on God’s work in the spirit of this covenant in our new church setting.
